Eagles are in comfort zone

Jan 31 2006

CRYSTAL Palace director of football Bob Dowie says the Eagles could bring in two players ahead of tonight's transfer window deadline - though they could cope if the deals don't come off.

Dowie said: "We have been tracking a couple of individuals, but we are not overly anxious as we are quite comfortable with what we already have got. But we will see. We are in a state of flux."

Palace allowed Tommy Black to go out to Gillingham on a month's loan on Friday.

Marco Reich, 28, says he'd happily have a good FA Cup run with Crystal Palace this season.

Whilst his manager Iain Dowie was bemoaning the fact the Eagles had earned a replay with their 1-1 fourth round draw at Preston, the German winger was pleased to still be in the cup.

He said: "The league is the priority - everybody says that.

"But it would be nice to get through to the next round and get the chance to play some big teams. We got a big team earlier this season when we beat Liverpool in the Carling Cup and everybody is still speaking about that game."

Looking ahead to tonight's Championship match at Preston, Reich said: "We are confident we can get a result. On Saturday I thought we should have won the game, but they had a few chances too."

Michael Hughes returns after suspension.
